FISHER MANSION SHOWHOUSE
“To highlight this exquisite groin vaulted ceiling—the handiwork of 1920s Detroit artisans—[Ramsay Nye] painted the ceiling a light green and then contrasted it with a darker shade on the gorgeous Art Deco metal framework that defined this delicious architectural detail.”
“We were honored to support the Junior League of Detroit through their 22nd Designers’ Showhouse, a biannual event that has raised over $4.5 million since 1976 for the League’s vital community work.”

Aspire Design and Home and the Junior League of Detroit selected Ramsay Nye to design a space in the Fisher Mansion Showhouse. The iconic home, located in Detroit’s historic Boston Edison District, was designed in 1924 by architect George Mason for the Fisher family, founders of the Fisher Body Company. After nearly fifty years, the home was purchased by actor and author Hill Harper, who committed to restoring and reimagining it which kicked off in earnest with the showhouse. Having the distinct privilege of being the first design team selected, Ramsay Nye chose the charming breakfast room—with its original Chinese inspired lattice work and detailed chinoiserie paintings—situated adjacent to the grand dining room. Inspired by London’s Royal Botanic Kew Gardens, they created the Secret Garden Room by starting with a stunning hand painted leafy wallcovering, then blending Victorian glass greenhouse charm with their love of old world antiques, vintage finds, modern art, and lush textiles.
