HIGHLAND TUTOR GUT REHAB

Inspired by a beloved vintage print... this Ann Arbor, Michigan, mudroom is both colorful and highly functional. An antique runner and boldly patterned bench cushion are spirited additions to the bluestone tile floors and soapstone sink.

The softest shade of nude serves as a sophisticated neutral backdrop, but with a bit more there-there than an expected shade of white or gray.

  • This 1926 Tudor Revival, nestled in Ann Arbor’s beloved Geddes Arboretum neighborhood near the University of Michigan, was full of charm but in need of some TLC. Ramsay Nye was asked to reimagine the space—including the oversight of a large scale renovation and addition—while preserving its pristine architectural components and infusing it with light, warmth, and modern livability. With two young children, the clients needed a home that was both resilient and beautiful. A two-story addition brought generous, connected living in the form of a sunlit family room open to the kitchen and breakfast nook, a serene primary suite with his-and-hers walk-in closets, and a finished lower level with plenty of room for the kids to romp around. The highly publicized mudroom has been featured in multiple publications and was inspired by a vintage print the clients cherished.
