WEST CLOVERHURST
“An old-meets-new haven that is oriented for the whole family.”
“A flower-centric mudroom where the homeowner could indulge her love of gardening and arrange flowers.”
“Core facets of the historic home were honored, including a closed floor plan, while other features, like the kitchen, were updated and expanded to better suit the family of four and their two dogs.”
“Cabinets, shelves, and interior millwork are washed in other shades of blue, which accent the library, kitchen, and coffered ceiling beams in the living room.”
“A side room next to the entry was absorbed into the primary suite to create an inviting sitting area and private library, offering a special hideaway for holding the homeowner’s favorite reads as well as family heirlooms.”
“Thoughtful, undaunted uses of color throughout weave the whole place together from the moment you step onto the front porch, where the ceilings are coated in classic “haint blue” paint.”

This stunning historic home in Athens, Georgia—listed on the National Register of Historic Places—required approval from the local Historic Preservation Committee for any exterior modifications and removal of non-historic additions. Ramsay Nye partnered with The Relay Shop to carry out the renovation with care and respect for its architectural legacy. For the interiors, Ramsay Nye designed custom cabinetry, built-ins, and millwork and reworked the original floor plan to create a private library, a new primary bathroom, and a powder room. Personalized bedroom suites for the client’s three children unequivocally reflect their individual tastes. As an avid gardener and a member of the oldest garden club in the United States, the client was especially keen on having a floral arranging room, which also doubles as mudroom. The overall design narrative emphasizes warmth, texture, and an edict for femininity, highlighting the home’s grand scale and natural light with soft hues.
